Is Discussing Identity More Important Than Shared Identity To Student-Staff Relationship Building?

چکیده

Research consistently demonstrates that the quality of student-staff interactions matters for positive student outcomes. Some research studies also suggest identity similarities (homophily) often contribute to meaningful human connections. Yet, influence and staff identities on teaching learning in higher education is less explored. We report how undergraduate students at one US university perceive impact classroom relationships. Four themes emerged from our analysis: (1) Shared interests may be more important than shared some staff; (2) Students’ year study influences their views relationships; (3) Identity homophily a point connection (4) Discussing identity, without homophily, can lead course-based The first three these align with existing literature, but fourth theme extends previous research, we focus exploring students, discussing matching when interacting academic staff.

Dynamic regulation of Gata factor levels is more important than their identity.

Three Gata transcription factors (Gata1, -2, and -3) are essential for hematopoiesis. These factors are thought to play distinct roles because they do not functionally replace each other. For instance, Gata2 messenger RNA (mRNA) expression is highly elevated in Gata1-null erythroid cells, yet this does not rescue the defect. Here, we test whether Gata2 and -3 transgenes rescue the erythroid def...

Plant Identity Influences Decomposition through More Than One Mechanism

Plant litter decomposition is a critical ecosystem process representing a major pathway for carbon flux, but little is known about how it is affected by changes in plant composition and diversity. Single plant functional groups (graminoids, legumes, non-leguminous forbs) were removed from a grassland in northern Canada to examine the impacts of functional group identity on decomposition. Remova...
